What is wrong with Comic Sans? (2014)

I like SPJ's use of Comic Sans for presentations.

As others have said, overuse and misuse have caused the hatred of Comic Sans, and at least from what I see, that overuse has receded, now replaced by other fads like pseudo-handwritten "brush" fonts that do for (or to) brush fonts what Bodoni does for Roman, and extremely condensed light sans-serif all caps.

So... without that overuse, one can actually appreciate Comic Sans, and I do because seeing it in presentation slides means I'm almost certainly looking at an SPJ presentation, which is always a delight.

tl; dr version: SPJ is the only guy cool enough to use Comic Sans for presentations.

Comic Sans is OK if sufficient white space is allowed between consecutive lines. I once visited a website where the descenders of one line mashed into the risers of the following line. It was pretty much unreadable as paragraphs resulted in rectangular blocks of squiggles.

I pointed this out to the website's author but he took no notice. I didn't visit his website again.
