Me too. The cover "pixels" and the custom "caching" fingerprint reader are the sorts of features that easily get left behind proprietary drivers (for no good reason).
I really wish the EU would use some of their GDPR-focussed zeal and mandate that peripherals must either have open spec sheets or function on open APIs. I'm not suggesting that manufacturers have to write drivers, just ensure that anybody else can.
