Ask HN: What are the differences between good and great engineering teams?

I've worked in product roles with a wide variety of engineers, some on small teams, some in large. Some in MVP stage, some in Series C stage.

I still don't have a qualitative measure on the difference between a good eng team and an exceptional one. Is it just experience? Developer onboarding time? System uptime? Shipping velocity?

Are there any rubric or qualitative assessments for this that you use?
