I think Youtube shows you an analogous bigger picture that makes the dominant media narratives seem fabricated and dishonest when viewed together, even if individually most of it is sincere (if dumb) reporting.
The discourse around radicalization has also been abused by editors and academics with agendas to de-normalize formerly moderate views, and who treat the interests of regular people as beneath discourse. So it's hard to take any discussions of radicalization seriously, even ones questioning whether it's even a thing, as you still have to acknowledge the nonsense it has been freighted with first.
