I'd be happy to have a cubicle again. The 'cattle feeder' style 3' (if that) hoteling desks are hot trash. The previous layer of hell is looking pretty good right now.
I realize you are probably saying that in jest, but I once worked in a cubicle for a Fortune 50 firm. Loved it. The firm itself had average management, but the people on my team were a lot fun to work with.
Yes, sometimes you get a cool team, half the times i would dare to day, but even if your peers are cool your superior could be an ass, or some day the board could decide that you ain't growing fast enough and fire half of you and bring some asshole that scares away all the team. Even less often you get to do something interesting or something that really matters. And almost always, unless you are a coop worker, you work till exhaustion to make someone else rich while you live month to month. But maybe i'm just pessimistic.
I'd be a lot happier in a cubicle than this big open seating area where I'm elbow-to-elbow with my coworkers.
I'm moving from an open-office floor plan to a cubicle, and can attest myself as one example of someone who very soon will be happy in a cubicle.
In contrast, it's impossible to spot someone miserable on a jet ski.
Maybe except someone who'd chosen jet ski as a way to commit suicide ;)
We had new jet skis on a boat I worked on. The owners were scheduled for a trip soon and we needed to break them in. We had a poor deckhand running up and down fjords for days breaking them in. In BC. In winter. Poor guy was a champ though.
Best job ever? /s
my point:
The only people who think business is done only in spite of managers, have never been managers.
