The world is bigger than the US.

As a long-time SuSE user, I agree. But the US Government would rather sign an SLA with a US company.

That doesn’t make the GP point untrue (though they also could have toned their post down and made the same point)

As an aside, it’s a pity SLES didn’t gain more traction because it’s a nice alternative to RHEL.

Not entirely true, I’ve worked at a number of suse only shops in the us. Ostensibly I found their support leagues better than red hat.
