Jennifer Robertson said her late husband's death "should not be in doubt", adding it is unclear how its confirmation "would assist the asset recovery process further".

It would not help in the recovery process but it could certainly calm angry mobs of people who lost their fortunes. If he truly did die at least a for myself I could live with that and just count it as a freak unfortunate loss of life and funds with no malicious wrong doing. If it proves he faked his death then we need to keep looking for this guy. People deserve answers as to why they can no longer access their money and I do not blame them for wanting an actual authority, the RCMP, to confirm this.

There is clear evidence of malfeasance, regardless of whether he died or not (sending "Quadriga" assets to other exchanges, etc).

Is there any actual evidence justifying digging him up or are we squinting really hard to make it look acceptable to dig him up just because a group of scam victims are upset?

I sure hope the bar is high for deciding to dig up someone's loved one and dragging them through indescribable further pain just to satisfy a mouth-frothing crypto crowd. The good news is that the legal system sits in the way so we do have a judge who will weigh the options.

The problem seems to be the lack of evidence about his death.

Wasn't there a death certificate? The problem I have is that I smell mob mentality of being perfectly okay to impinge upon rights because their own mental model of justice allows it.

There was a death certificate, but it was from Jaipur, where corruption and bribery are apparently fairly common. I don't have any dog in this fight, but the story is pretty interesting.

Yes, he moved assets around and clearly did not operate the exchange lawfully. His wife could very well be a co-conspirator. It is also possible he's the victim of a homicide.

Read up on the story yourself, the myriads of scams and thieveries along the way. Read up on the people involved, their past actions ... read up of actions that happened before and after. Now think about who benefited of the scams and would keep benefiting if things stayed the same.

I got no personal stake in the matter but I can see that the wronged parties would learn a lot and would help a lot of people recover their losses if they could at least rule out at least one of the alternatives.

It’s a corpse, not a loved one. Pain can only justify so much obstruction, and a lot of people lost their fortunes. You’re gonna have to do so much more to demonstrate her pain is worth halting the investigation.

If he was going to fake his own death why whould he not have his "body" cremated?

If we can ant to play the why game: His handling of the exit scam was already super suspicious, cremation would have just been that much more of a red flag. At least burying gives a chance to delay.

My best guess is that he was going to have plastic surgery in Jaipur. There are several plastic surgeons right near the Fortis hospital. Maybe to alter his appearance. And then the surgery went badly.

Or he had the fake death certificate and bought a fake body in Jaipur. Then did plastic surgery and scooted out of there.
