I hardly think Tesla was proposing sending massive microwaves towards a huge metallic object as a means of power. Ever put metal in a microwave? Dont!
They didn't have microwave ovens in Tesla's day, so it's not entirely clear that this would have occurred to him or that he would believe it to be insurmountable.
