So glad Firefox has recently started blocking third-party cookies. It's comforting to know there's still a web browser which put thought into guarding our privacy.
The title misleadingly implies that they are able to de-anonymize private browsing users, but that's not what the article is saying at all. It's just saying that many porn sites happen to use Google analytics.
Yes, but it's easy for an organization of Google's scale to de-anonymize those users using browser fingerprinting. https://amiunique.org/
Third-hand recap of a NYT article from July spouting information that everyone here should already know. How did this make it to the front page?
Probably most people upvoting didn't know about the NYT article (does everyone here read all the NYT articles?) and thought it was interesting.
"Porn sites use Google Analytics too" isn't a shocking revelation.
I can't imagine anyone surfs porn in 2019 without a serious popup, ad, and privacy blocker.
My guess is the majority of porn surfing actually takes place on mobile devices which have a much lower rate of users installing privacy solutions.
