Someone called out above, unfortunately accurately, that a receipt with you voted for will greatly simplify vote buying. And with 30% of people not even bothering to vote, vote buying would probably be incredibly cheap.

Because votes could be sold. E.g.: “Show me your receipt to prove how you’ve voted for, and we’ll give you $50”

Can't people already do this with a smartphone?

Absolutely and it happens, but not that regularly.

Polling places are extremely busy and people pull out their phones all the time. All you have to do is record you voting and you have the proof.

In the US, it depends on the state. Many states have policies or laws about taking pictures in the voting booth. There's quite a few articles about this from the 2018 election.

What stoops the system from giving you someone else's id. From a person who voted just like you and registering your vote as it pleases under new id it wont give to anyone?
