what? one of these groups has the power/influence to systematically rig the law in their favor and the other... doesn't. how can you possibly compare the two?

To those less wealthy than you, you are part of the category "those more wealthy than me" - that is, part of the enemy. They aren't joining with you to fight against the people richer than you. They're intending to fight against you. (At least, I believe that's chasd00's point.)
