Great post.
On the topic, the Bloomberg terminal is a dinosaur and is slow to start from what I remember but email and most of the features are pretty much instant in their response. There is plenty of resistance from customers to newer features which tend to be more ‘modern’ looking and feature-full but have noticeable latency. To give an example, there is a feature to price mortgage backed bonds, the 15 year old (maybe older?) version loads instantly, takes command line arguments, on the other hand the new version takes maybe a few seconds to load and matches 98% of the old functionality plus 30-50% of new capabilities. The new one is basically universally hated.
