Huawei's latest TV ad is not going over well in Canada

The reactions have everything to do with the current political situation, and nothing to do with the advertisement.
Huawei could have created an ad stating that they cured cancer and the technology is exclusively accessible to Canadians for a period of 3 years, and they would still get flak.
If Huawei wants to appeal to the Canadian people, instead of running vacuous "feel good" tv ads they should publicly appeal the Chinese government to release the Canadian citizens they're holding hostage and in one case threatening to murder. They won't do that though.
(Also to be frank, any excuse to bring more public attention to these human rights violations is a good enough excuse.)
People do not like it, not because of it's content but because of it's context.
