Betteridge's law: for any headline ending in a question, the answer is 'no'.

It's surprising how actually effective it is when trying to determine if an article is going to be worth your time.

Combine it with Sturgeon's Law (90% of everything is crap) and you're left with a very small subset of decent journalism.
