I'm not experienced enough to give a proper critique of go, but I can say that as a non-cs major learning to code, I found go wonderful to work with. Type system is good enough to catch errors and understand code at a glance, yet not overly cumbersome. The language syntax strikes the right balance of verbosity. The only thing I don't like is the way errors are handled.
