Go for it. You will not regret it... I still have mine powered on and sits on my desk with an external plugged in. I suggest doing the FullHD mode if you're decent with a soldering iron. Here is a great resource for x220s. Enjoy!

I have never touched a soldering iron and quite wary of h/w tinkering - thanks for the link though. Even if I don't know how to work with h/w, I like to read about other people doing it.

If you do go for it look out for one with an original battery that may well fall into the battery recall that Lenovo has been running for years. A "dead" battery to the seller may represent a free replacement from Lenovo without any cycles it's clock.

Thats my fear too - not only the battery but even the thermal paste part. I have never tinkered with h/w and have a bit of phobia of breaking things. I'll probably end up paying someone to do it :(
