Ask HN: Your Workplace vs. High Technology Hubs

Hi HN,

This was posted on HN yesterday: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20088790

It compares SV (and other high technology hubs) with 'the rest' of tech workplaces.

My question is for those of us in 'the rest' of the industry:

How does yours compare? Does your company offer technology products, or is your technology work in support of something completely different? What development practises do you use? Tools? Stack? Hardware? What drives you nuts? What do you enjoy? How are your hours? Pay?

There is no particular motive behind the question - just pure curiosity, since what we see in the news, does tend to be the 'glamorous' side of the industry.
