What's the deal with rape in India? It seems out of all the horrible acts a person can perform, rape is oftentimes high on the list. This also extends to foreigners visiting the country. E.g. Girls getting raped while on holiday.

Is it a masculine-related problem? Does poverty affect people's mindset in such a way?

Also, this is by no means an attack or a judgmental point of view. I am genuinely interested in understanding this. I have been to India before and it's an amazing place.
