Google Terminates AI Ethics Council After One Week

Quick summary: the inclusion of conservative figure Kay Coles James provoked a major controversy due to her record of suggesting transgender women should be held to the standards/expectations of men, and downplaying the urgency of climate change.

I dunno what to feel about this, really. This idea almost looked DOA since an ethics panel with a strong mandate would ideally include a wide variety of perspectives, including hotly controversial ones. Yet at the same time, you know Google would never stock it with a white nationalist, so I'm not sure it's that much better stocking it with someone who denies the validity of transgender people.

Can we add this to the projects Google started and terminated?

I think this would be the winner for fastest shutdown.
