Are young people actually confused by rotary phones?

It just seems so unlikely to me. I looked it up on snopes and couldn't find anything.

There are a a lot of videos online of kids and teenagers unable to make a call using a rotary phone¹, but to me I felt it had to be some scripted thing to try and achieve viral status.

I mean they've been seen in movies so many times, and sounds like the dial tone and the busy signal are such cultural tropes, it just seems like bullshit to me.
