Mom decides to not bring child to doctor, SWAT team arrives

This reminds me of the Terry Gilliam 1985 film “Brazil”. It portrays a future dystopic Britain where bureaucracy and the State has run wild, creating various Kafraesque situations, such as repairing your own airconditioning being classed as “terrorism” and a typo on an official document landing the character in jail, with no way out.

A few decades ago this was classed as fanciful entertainment. Now it’s become real life. Scary stuff.

I mean the escalation is absolutely crazy, but I feel like a lot of this could have been avoided if the parents had just answered the door instead of ignoring police knocks and phone calls for hours on end. Clearly they were home.

In my opinion it is reasonable that she is forced to have the child seen by professional, but is it really necessary to send in a military operation?

But this might not be the complete story, she’s an antivaxer so she could also have been rambling and yelling and threatening against the evil professionals and their science. That wouldn’t be the story she’d tell the papers though.

Why would you submit this ? That is just a random piece of news.

This is so tiring.

They should change the law so the police can only forcibly take custody for a life-threatening emergency, not a flu, and require two doctors' opinions.
