But without it being available on Android or Windows, it seems so hamstrung that I can't see it turning into a game-changer for the publishing world.
Also feels like it would need a top-tier level that would include the NYT, WaPo, New Yorker, Economist, etc.
Firstly, although I do own an iPhone, I use Windows on my other devices, including my Surface Book, where I'm more likely to do long form reading. So the lack of either a Windows or web app makes it DoA for me.
The second issue is that, unfortunately for publishers, it's not obvious to me that this is a better value than content that's already freely available on the web. If more of the content I'm interested in were to disappear behind a paywall, then perhaps it would be a better value. I could see how this model is healthier for the industry as a whole, but, selfishly, as a consumer I don't see much value prop.
