I was so surprised when I received a signed email by Postfinance, my bank here in Switzerland.

I really think it would be very beneficial if all major providers would start to use that. At first not many people would check the signature, but if then this takes momentum probably all major email provider will start to show an icon telling that the email is signed and verified. Just like Gmail shows when an email was received through a secure channel (TLS).
