Ask HN: What system services should be included in starter apps?

Hey! I am creating a few starter applications and wanted to ask the option of the HN community on what to include.

There are very obvious things like authentication and sending email.

What other services do you expect to be automatic if you are building an application and don't want to waste time on non application features?

Also... what starter projects for various frameworks do you find most useful?
