It also means you always need to re-adjust your mirrors for parking, especially for more urban areas. I don't understand why a portion of the mirror can't simply be made convex. There are lots of aftermarket adhesive ones that do exactly this.
I bought a used car and it came with the sticky convex ones applied. Never going to go without them again, they should totally be mandatory. So simple, so effective
This, exactly. I don't understand why these aren't required stock equipment on all cars.
My 2014 vehicle came like this from the manufacturer - the exterior 1/3 of the mirror is convex for a wider field of view.
There are cars that come with a convex bit in the mirror in their stock configuration, it's been common in Ford's lineup for years.
Just tilt your head when parking. Parking is what, <10% of mirror use?
But more than 10% of accidents. A quick Google search turns up 20% of accidents happening in parking lots. Now those are likely to be lower speed than highway, but still something to keep in mind.
