The issue is often that Employee Engagement is driven by (and wanted from) Human Resource* departments who tackle it like another checkbox to tick.
Real employee engagement comes from understanding that employees are unique and often have similar but different needs when it comes to what motivates them (money, ego, success, quality, output, social, etc.). The data often doesn't reflect the fidelity needed here.
