Octobox helps manage GitHub notifications

I'm confused about pricing. The main page doesn't mention any limitations, but I stumbled across https://octobox.io/pricing which implies $100/month for use with private repos.

We’re slowly rolling out extra features that are enabled by installing the GitHub App (syncing state, CI status, author, assignee, labels) without needing repo scope, that’ll be free for open source repos and paid for private.

Didn’t expect to see this on HN news today, the homepage will be updated within the next day or two to explain the paid feature.

I can't find a privacy policy. How is privacy handled by this shared instance?

Also odd how this page overrides the scrolling mechanism of mobile Safari. No swipe-and-scroll.

Oh I thought I had just hit the end of the page, that makes a ton more sense.

Agreed scrolling on mobile safari is borked, will definitely get that fixed up!

Presumably this somehow accesses Github and talks to it, shouldn't that data be mentioned in your Privacy Policy?

Oh yeah good catch, we’ll get that added

Github notifications are definitely problematic. I hope this business gets acquired by instead of copied by Github.

Can anyone here comment on using Octobox at scale or with success?

I currently have over 10000+ unread Github notifications and would like a better solution for managing these notifications.

Is Octobox designed to still work reliably when handling this amount of data?

Octobox maintainer here, we’ve done a lot of work recently to make Octobox work better and fast for power users. I’ve heard that Shopify is using it to handle very high volumes of notifications and seem to be happy users.

I really, really like this. Instant user.

What is with this trend of super niche, esoteric startups?
