I don't buy a ton of domains, so I'm more than willing to pay a little extra so I don't have to wade through registrar bullshit. It's not just GoDaddy, although they're the most egregious example.
I particularly enjoy iWantMyName because they're startup-centric: they have one-button DNS setup for GitHub Pages, Heroku, Google Apps, bit.ly, Tumblr... man, a whole slew of services, really. I just feel more comfortable with everything. And that's worth the extra bucks to me.
I also use 1and1 as well as Dotster in the past - but will be moving all my domains over to gandi.net over time.
Hover.com is a new one that I've been hearing good things about and they are probably worth investigating.
Apart from that, they're OK.
