So, this group was started around the time that the US spy agencies were constructing fake ISIS attacks across the country, see Jaloh or Booker. We then claim Junnad Hussain is running them, justifying the US use of drone strikes to kill a British citizen. Now the UK claims it's Russia.

The US being behind it makes sense, they want ISIS to appear to be a larger threat to push further attacks in the Middle East. ISIS being behind it makes sense, they want to appear more powerful than they are. Russia doesn't make sense. They want the US out of the Middle East and I can't see any real gain on their part.

To true. The author works for Rupert Murdoch, the same Rupert Murdoch that had to go before the UK parliament to explain himself.

ISIS is considered by Vladimir Putin to be a bunch of mercenaries paid for by the United States. Russian news shows share this view.

Really this story should be flagged as fake news has no business here.

It is laughable that someone in Moscow was behind a story designed to convince people in Albuquerque that ISIS is about to attack them, from the cybersphere or otherwise.

What about the west? this bloomberg vs Apple chip exploit is a pretty lame attempt to make us hate China again.

Is it really though? I took the GP as just an example of how disinformation techniques are almost universal now, built up across nations and how each one has a bit of flavor to it which makes it unique from others. I didn't read the GP as excusing Russia's tactics, but instead, expanding on the topic of disinformation campaigns and how much we're fed by various media, regardless of the country of origin.
