The museum is a treasure house of the history of London and the archival legatee of many of the guilds and societies.
I usually shy away from gushing recommendations but I think the MOL is one of my favourites, the docklands site was the venue of a conference social one year I went to.. well worth a visit.
Amsterdam had many plague epidemics and each time the plague hit 10% or so of the inhabitants died. At least one of the London plagues was traced back to goods shipped from Amsterdam.
