You know, Perl being treated as it’s being treated warrants my comment. It still rules for certain tasks and sadly Python is the enemy there, where Python is the worse choice.

I'm sure there are areas where perl applies very well, being a good python editor/IDE is not one of them.

Nothing warrants a snarky comment on a super unrelated subject, this article has nothing to do with solving a domain specific area where perl would excel more than python or any other language.
