Can we start mandating that posters include approximate salary ranges. Too often you end up finding out the salary is way less than is fair for your experience, etc... Knowing in advance would save everyone a lot of time and $.
I think that if they don't offer market rate salary for senior enginners they should let it know in advance instead of making them apply and either losing their time or lowballing them (best case most of these companies are hoping for).
