I think this (more than even perhaps the Great Recession itself) is the determining factor in the 'crisis'... And probably a socioeconomic time-bomb to boot (from [1, caveat lector]):

I'm betting the next global recession will be student-loan driven. And with serious, non-trivial sociopolitical consequences (at least in the US).
