Ask HN: Do you have any PTO-use strategies?

I work as a programmer and historically I don't use PTO until I'm in danger of losing it at the end of the year. And then when that time rolls around, I have no idea what to use it on. Does anyone have strategies they use with their PTO to make sure that it gets used up and that they don't burn out at work? Exceptions, of course, being made for when you are saving it up for something.
