Oops sorry, we mean,
"For people using Chrome."
Win back the web was the Firefox motto to challenge IE, and it might be time again.
Keep in mind, time to load actually impacts user retention on most sites. If a user is savvy enough to notice that it only happens in Firefox - the result could be anything from maligning the reputation of Mozilla, to driving them to use Chrome.
On it's face, it appears anti-competitive and something a 90s Microsoft would have done.
Google didnt slow down Edge and Firefox on purpose, they simply use an old API, which is still natively supported by chrome, but has to polyfill in Edge and Firefox. This unsurprisingly leads to longer loading/js execution time
> Another rather interesting aspect to note is that Polymer's latest versions support both Shadow DOM v0 and v1 APIs, but for some reason, Google still uses Polymer 1.0 with the deprecated API.
That's part of being a good internet citizen. Other companies have broken that responsibility (silver light) and we were correctly critical of them then.
