That's recycling, not reuse. A lot of energy and, I'd assume, water and chemicals go into turning these raw materials into panels again.

But those raw materials are much less raw than sand and metal ores.

Not really. For example it takes similar amounts of energy to turn glass into glass of another shape than sand into glass.

Then why is it profitable to recycle glass?
