Ask HN: When do you expect there to be a table tennis robot beating a human?

Sometimes I play TT and wondered when there will be a robot with one arm - e.g. Kuka LBR [0] - on a mobile base) holding a conventional table tennis bat capable of beating the current world champion (Fan Zhendong at the moment, see e.g. [1])? I think the tech is there and we have also this demo [2] and it's impressive but wouldn't have a chance in a faster game (an educated guess as otherwise they would show faster game play).

We have also this [3] marketing clip from KUKA robotics against a top player, but unfortunately it's CGI.

I would guess 2020ish, but it seems like a hard tracking and latency problem ...
