Sure they would, I'd just have to unlock after connecting them. Which seems like something I'd probably do anyways.

Not really. They could allow accessory protocols while disabling everything else. The only sensitive thing we care about is "usbmuxd" or whatever the protocol for iOS sync & backup is.

That's not true, there's the large attack surface of those other protocols to worry about too.

This is more or less what happens in android. The usb port is only enabled for charging, anything else requires you to unlock the phone.

I concur, would be great if this feature could be enabled with 'Emergency Mode'.
