Ask HN: Does anyone else notice a deterioration in Spotify sound quality?

Hi, I have a "Basic" (paid) subscription to Spotify, and lately the sound quality seems to be getting worse by the day. I now suspect that Spotify is trying to "convince" me to move to the Premium subscription. Does anybody else here notice the same? I have no problems with upgrading, but I want to do it for the right reasons, and not because Spotify forces me to.
