Ask HN: What employee referral programs have worked for you?

Hi,

I'm in the process of doubling our engineering team from about 30. I'm wondering what are some good employee referral programs that you've seen work? Our naive approach is to offer an incentive for every hire but wondering if there are some more creative solutions out there

Any thoughts appreciated.
