I'm working in my spare time on a series of articles about the curious psychology of the software development world. This one is near the top of my list!
Got an email signup for that?
+1 on the email sign up--I'm very interested. Or at least post it to HN?
Also interested in newsletter/update.
I could write that series in a weekend.
If your needs are basic, why is that surprising? Anyone who uses multiple payment processing services, for example in different countries or to support different payment methods, is probably already doing their own thing at that level anyway. Big, complicated APIs and invoicing systems and so on are not your friend in that sort of environment.
Have you ever built a basic invoicing app? I have.
Did that include accepting credit card payments?
Yes, you can accept CC payments in 15 minutes via Stripe, PayPal, or Braintree.
(Which is kind of the full circle of this thread)
I just rebuilt about 60% of our invoicing system this past week. So yes, depending on your needs, it can be done.
So... 2.5 weekends, and you're only 60% done.
And as they say, you get 90% of the work done in 90% of the time and the remaining 10% in 90% of the time.
80% done, only 80% to go!
20% of the time, it works every time.
It was already done, we just reworked a large portion of it. Done with that already, 3 days of work.
Yeah, i'm building | built an invoicing app, it's not too much work for the basics.
