Why Is the Second Amendment So Cryptic? [video]

Authoritarians find many aspects of the Bill of Rights difficult to understand. Look what they've done to the Fourth already: they've "oh gosh this is cryptic"'ed it into a dead letter. It's no surprise they're determined to misinterpret the Second as well. News flash: these reinterpretations go mostly in one direction, more power for the authority, less freedom for the subject.

On the topic of the second amendment, as I understand it we ended up with this exact text after much discussion. If I recall correctly, a specific comma was added close to when it was being finalized in order to help clarify the use-cases which the founding fathers were targeting.

It’s not cryptic. Read the damn preamble, the part about “prevent abuse and misconstruction of powers”. The 2A was written in BECAUSE we have a standing army, since “a standing army is dangerous to liberty”.

It’s only cryptic to liberals who want to abolish it. I’m so tired of the BS; just friggin move to the pansy-assed EU, or some 3rd world thugocracy, where only the government has guns. I’ll take freedom and insecurity.
