Android's "MVC" layer is a joke, and not a very funny one. An argument for React Native, at least as a replacement for native Android, is that it lets you circumvent the nightmare that is Google's Android SDK and toolchain. Javascript and React+Redux is, arguably, it's own special little nightmare too, but still better than the alternative, especially if used with TypeScript.
