The Stig's ID is 'Top Gear' secret no more

I frequent HN because I have an active and professional interest in the industry plus the off-topic comments that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity.

I'm a big Top Gear fan and I'm also a bit of a petrolhead and to satisfy my curiosity in these areas I frequent pistonheads or reddit.

This article certainly doesn't gratify one's intellectual curiosity.

I kinda like the show, but is this HN material? I don't think so.

People have been speculating about this for a while now:

2008, http://forums.finalgear.com/top-gear/ben-collins-on-topgear-...

2009, http://forums.finalgear.com/top-gear/daily-mail-reveals-all-...

Some even guessed correctly in 2005, but I think that was luck because a lot of names were thrown around.

I'm strangely disappointed - I have no idea who the guy is (hoped it was an F1 legend or something), and he was apparently our noses the whole time (appearing in a number of episodes)! Weird that he would out himself though,

I found the spam comments on the article more interesting than the content.

man, i was loving the mystique. me and my roommates used to have lengthy speculative discussions about the stig. good times.
