Apple's fraudulent battery replacement program, and what you can learn from it

I have an iPhone 6 that I brought in for battery replacement. Genius bar appointment was the next night and I stopped by after work. It took about 20 minutes before a technician was free so I enjoyed looking at the crazy large screen they installed in the store.

Technician confirmed my symptoms (battery won’t charge, random shut downs) and told me the batteries were 2 weeks back ordered. 2 weeks later, got a call that I could come in anytime to replace my battery with an overnight turnaround.

Dropped off phone, picked up the next morning for $29 never once got an upsell to a better phone.

Click-bait based on a sample size of 1. Please investigate and corroborate before jumping to conclusions of ‘fraud’.

(Note to Brian - Of course they’re going to ask to replace your screen if it’s cracked and -possibly- make a repair risky)

"Fraudulent"? It's this article which is fraudulent. Basically, one entitled guy who had fucked his phone up and then got it wet was given a new phone by Apple, but that wasn't enough to appease his garguantuan entitledness, so he decided to call Apple's battery replacement program (which is very generous and also has nothing to do with his issues) "fraudulent".

And then he had the nerve to bitch that the free phone they gave him was "not returnable"; i.e., that he didn't get a brand-new warranty on a three-year-old product.

What an asshole. I'd flag this, but I don't want to deprive others of the opportunity to mock it.

This is an interesting consumer experiment that should be tried at more Apple stores. Could it simply be that only this Santa Monica location is committing fraudulent practices? One wonder what would have happened if Brian had brought his phone to another store.

Lol I’m happy you guys saw this was clickbait. I worked as a technician at Apple for years, that decision is just protocol and ultimately, the part constraint and appointment wait is just part of the process sometimes.

Sounds normal... "Brian" had a cracked screen.
