Apple Leak Reveals Sudden iPhone X Cancellation

The most disappointing news in these rumors is a 6.1 inch iPhone SE. I have the current iPhone SE and it's the perfect phone for me — scaled down to it after trying the iPhone 6 a couple years ago. There's something about this form factor that makes it the best phone I've ever used.

This is a poor quality submission. It's from a Forbes "Contributor", which is essentially their content farm and is not vetted by the Forbes editorial process. And it's not an "Apple Leak", it's a memo from an analyst.

If one follows the link given in the forbes article to the Apple insider page, it sounds much less dramatic. It talks about the iPhone X not having a direct successor in the next iPhone cycle. As the next generation iPhones are supposed to have the "borderless" screen and the face ID as now introduced with the iPhone X, it is not too surprising. Apple couldn't do the OLED screen and face ID for their mass market phones this year. So instead of just offering the iPhone 8, they choose to offer the iPhone X as the luxury version. If they can manufacture both features in the necessary numbers and at the target prices, the need for the iPhone X just goes away.

I had to check for a moment that it wasn't April 1st.

Give me a break.

So they’re not really cancelling it. They’re releasing 3 versions of it with a notch-free design.
