Heroes 3 has been working on Wine for years, when was the last time you tried?
I feel like the last time I tried it wanted me to install some things and there were some errors on Mac? I don't totally remember though, but it wasn't smooth sailing last year or so.
Yes, same. But I tried maybe 2 years ago.
For more recent games though, better use Wine on Linux. Something that relies on DX11 wouldn't work on macOS, because of its limited OpenGL support.
