Ask HN: Automatic translation in chat app

Some time ago Google introduced the little button in Android apps which is basically some UI sugar for copy paste into Google Translate. Ever since I have been wondering if there is any chat app or integration to do this automatically. I.e. set/detect language for a conversation and have all messages automatically translated (through google or something else) with a single tap/click to reveal the original message.

That way, both people can write and read messages in their native language without any further effort. Seems like a no-brainer to me but haven't found anything so far. Every dearch I do just gets me tons of articles son the google button. Am I overlooking something?
