I thought this was going to be a commentary on the state or trend of Lifehacker's editorial direction and/or bias. Instead it's commentary about being annoyed that no one is paying attention to Palm's WebOS mobile platform.
Hard to take seriously after read this.
Personally I don't see why nowadays people can't give an opinion without turning it into a scientific like paper. He is very honest about what he was going to write... and maybe he wrote a comment on WebOS in particular at some other point in time.
This article wasn't about WebOS per se, but about the editorial choices of Lifehacker.
And while I think that it'd be hard to defend WebOS now even though not much has changed in the last few years (is this correct?), and consumers have not been very keen so far (in terms of units sold), I agree it's a problem. It would be a pity if once the new WebOS/Pre comes out it will get ignored, or even the new Windows Phone 7. Indeed I am very much looking forward to Meego, but even that seems to have a tenth of the hype surrounding the Android.
Second: I liked Lifehacker in the past. But more and more they seem to be turning into a me-too tech news site, and a pretty biased one at that (towards FOSS). I enjoyed it much more when it stayed closer to the theme... now I hardly read it anymore. (not sure if in the last few months it changed much, to be honest).
