Rather than focusing on poverty, I wonder if we should be focusing on wealth disparity/inequality instead. It seems like reduction of poverty is being used to distract from and even justify the increased wealth inequality. Reducing poverty is a noble goal but the scary systematic problem to me is the ever growing concentration of wealth amongst a tiny elite and the decline of the middle class.

And I don't see how AI/machine learning + big data can decrease wealth inequality when a small few control the data and the AI.
